There are numerous activities offered so even if you try to be bored, good luck! One of our favourites is the rainforest hiking trails. They can be conquered during the day or night, so lace up those hiking shoes, grab some water and be ready to immerse yourself inside Mother Nature's playground. Activities Hiking In the rainforest you will see colorful and interesting wildlife including white-faced monkeys, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, poison dart frogs, tapirs, and if you're lucky a puma or a jaguar. Look up to see the top of a tree that is hundreds of years old. You might even spot a sloth. Hikes range from walking on the beach to wading up jungle-rivers where you will be rewarded with a beautiful waterfall. You can even trek along ancient Central American trade routes deep into the rainforest. Yoga Yoga is a great way to keep mind and body relaxed and focus. The Eco-Lodge offers morning yoga rituals that awaken the mind and sharpen the senses. Also, you can hike deep into the jungle to a platform high above the rainforest. There you will be guided through an hour-long yoga session. Horseback Riding For those who like horseback riding, try a sunrise gallop along the remote beach of the Pacific where the sound of rush hour is replaced by crashing waves. Ride your horse to the hatchery where you can participate in turtle restoration with the volunteers and then casually make your way back in time for breakfast. Or just keep on going as the deserted beach runs for over 25 kilometers. Pacific Ocean Playground If you want to take a timeout from hiking, why not ride the waves on a surfboard or boogie board? The water is warm and the sand is soft on your feet. There are also sea kayaks available so take the day to explore the nearby lagoons or the coastline of the Pacific. Fishing local style is also a great way to enjoy local culture. Plus, if you are lucky, you will reward everyone with fresh fish for dinner! Bird Watching We know some people don't see bird watching as an actual activity but you will be surprised by the diversity of our flying friends in the area. There are over 850 different species recorded in Costa Rica and you can find all of this information in our library. You will be surprised when you read about the infamous Toucan who is much feared by all of the other birds. Relaxing Yes, relaxing is an activity. Choose one of the many hammocks around the property to rest and read while you listen to the waves crashing. Stroll down the beach to the lagoon or simply visit our lush garden where you can spot many different species of plants, insects, and birds. Visit our observation deck and watch scarlet macaws fly by as they spread their wings to reveal the most beautiful colours or red, yellow, and blue. Nightlife Not that kind of nightlife (although happy-hour is always a fun time here!). This is when amphibians and reptiles take over. Enjoy the many standoffs between pray and predator as you walk around the garden at night. Bring your headlamp or flashlight and spot Costa Rica's famous red eye tree frog! |
